History
The band was formed by Graham Townend, Bob Dales and their other keen musicians in January 1986. Starting with the senior band, the junior section was formed the following year. Over the last 30 years it has provided youngsters in the East Riding with the opportunity to learn a brass instrument and to take a full and active role in a band.
Whilst the emphasis is on ensuring that music making is a pleasurable experience, this does not mean that we do not strive for quality. The band has, in the past, taken part in competitions and toured in Europe!
Structure
It is an entirely voluntary organisation with no charges to the students. The band can even supply loan instruments, also free of charge.
We rehearse on Saturdays (during term time) in the Performing Arts Centre at Driffield School. (10am to noon).
The band is currently structured as follows:
Senior Band conducted Graeme Appleton
Junior Band conducted by Andy Sapcote

Committee
We have a very active and dedicated committee whose primary function is to support the band conductors and members, responsibilities include everything from keeping the tuck shop fully stocked to ensuring the future viability of the band.
As a voluntary organisation we survive on our fund raising abilities.
In the past we have secured 2 grants from the Local Network Fund:
£7,000 allowed us to buy 12 new instruments
£2,600 allowed us to equip both bands with a new uniform
Where can you fit in?
